After a quarter century of waiting for baseball to return to the 91-year-old ballpark in Paterson, fans expected to be able to watch a slate of five high school baseball games at the first Johnny Briggs Classic Sunday, but the facility will not be ready for Sunday’s first pitch. Mayor Andre Sayegh maintained that heavy rains last week delayed the installation of the running track that will encircle the field as the final portion of the $94 million refurbishment.
