The PSNI launched an internal investigation after footage emerged following Armagh's victory over Galway at Croke Park
Joe Brolly has expressed his disappointment at unionist politicians' reaction to an incident in which PSNI officers appeared to join in celebrations after Armagh won the All-Ireland final on Sunday.
UUP leader Doug Beattie described the incident as "naive and reckless" as DUP leader Gavin Robinson and TUV leader Jim Allister also spoke out against it. "There was no such thing as community policing and now we've got the ideal, we've got community policing. "Now you have a completely different scenario where in these areas the police are welcomed and the community works with them and all the rest of it so this fun, this gesture of support of Armagh that went down very, very well in the Armagh community has of course led to these police officers being castigated by not just loyalism in general but the three leaders of the unionist parties in the north.
Brolly then addressed comments made by Doug Beattie after the UUP leader tweeted: "Naive and reckless. I have already engaged with the Chief Constable and I’m confident this will be addressed." DUP leader Gavin Robinson spoke to PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher on Monday morning, while TUV leader Jim Allister reported the incident to the Police Ombudsman watchdog.
Mr Clarke insisted the delegation “were not there to tell police how to do their jobs”, but relay “genuine concerns”.
