Joe Biden says he will make VP pick next week.
. Among the reported front-runners, besides Bass, are two former rivals for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Kamala Harris and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, plus former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, a close ally of Biden during the Obama years, and Rep. Val Demings of Florida and Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois.
Though Biden was emphatic that he would name his choice next week, some advisors are reportedly urging him not to move too quickly, citing the difficultly of conducting the vetting process during the middle of a pandemic and also suggesting that it might be better to wait until the party is closer to its nominating convention in Milwaukee, scheduled to start – virtually – on Aug. 17
One of those suggesting that there is no need to rush is David Axelrod, a former campaign advisor to Barack Obama, who said tothat waiting until the eve of the convention might be the better move. “It does add buzz going into those conventions,” Axelrod,
