Getting above .500? They arrived at that dividing line earlier this week, but couldn’t surpass it.

Here’s another one: not simply being in games, but turning moral victories into actual victories. Perhaps the best indicator of that is how the Rangers have fared in one-run games. Entering Friday’s series-opener with the Mariners, the Rangers had been in 10 of them, winning just two.on Friday, but instead found his first blown save of the season, surrendering a go-ahead two-run blast to Eugenio Suarez in the ninth in what ended up being a 4-3 loss for the Rangers.

The go-ahead home run was set up by a walk from Seattle’s J.P. Crawford. In the next at bat, Barlow went behind in the count to Suarez 2-0 before he left a fastball over the heart of the plate. Suarez didn’t miss it. Barlow had converted 17-straight save attempts before Friday. That’s the longest save streak the Rangers have had since Keone Kela converted 25-straight chances between May 2017 and July 2018.

“He’s going to give up a run or two, obviously.
