Joburg Water: 'Don't worry, the system won't collapse,' utility assures despite frequent outages
Johannesburg Water says the water infrastructure in the city will not collapse despite recent outages that, in some cases, have gone on for weeks on end.Johannesburg Water says the water infrastructure in the city will not collapse. It said the supply was not in danger because the majority of the city's water systems were healthy.
This is according to Johannesburg Water's networks manager Logan Munsamy, who spoke at a virtual briefing on the state of water supply in Johannesburg on Tuesday. This year, residents have experienced water supply issues since August, which Johannesburg Water is attributing to high consumption because of the hot weather and a diminished supply by Rand Water.Munusamy said that the Johannesburg water system – the network of reservoirs, towers and reticulation – would not collapse because only certain parts of the City are having issues.
