Intel has received a $25 million workforce development grant from JobsOhio for its $20 billion project in Licking County.
over the next three years to fund eight projects with more than 80 Ohio colleges and universities developing semiconductor education and workforce programs.
The $150 million that JobsOhio has committed to Intel, the most it has spent on a single project. The remaining money was for land acquisition.The workforce grant is meant to provide funding for the improvement of worker skills and abilities. How much JobsOhio awards is based on several factors, including job creation, payroll, investment by the company receiving the money, return on investment and project location.
The state is handing out more than $2 billion in incentives to Intel for the project: $600 million to Intel that reflects the cost of developing chip factories in America; $691 million in infrastructure improvements in the region; and $650 million over 30 years in income tax incentives based on the number of workers Intel hires.
