What started it?
In June, the NCAA adopted an interim policy that would allow athletes to benefit from use of their name, image and likeness.Players are allowed to obtain sponsorships, be paid for social media posts, sign endorsement deals and have an agent. Individual states have laws that vary related to amateurism and when high school and college athletes can sign deals. In Texas, for example, high school athletes are not allowed to sign an NIL deal.
