KUALA LUMPUR: He had no formal power in the governance of state fund Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) but fugitive financier Low Taek Jho was still able to influence decisions at the executive level, the High Court heard.
Former 1Malaysia Development Bhd CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, 49, testified that this was because Low, or better known as Jho Low, represented both the higher-ups, which were Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak .
“I find that the messages and orders relayed by Low to me were consistent with the feedback Najib gave through meeting minutes as well as verbally, ” he said here on Monday . “Low himself told me that there must be a black and white from TIA to ensure that his role was transparent. “This means that the official appointment letter was just a formality because his role was executed since the beginning, even before I joined TIA, ” Shahrol Azral added.
