OAKLAND — A Jewish Community Campus that would include a school is being proposed at the long-time site in Oakland of an office and retail complex that had been owned by Nestle Dreyer’s, an iconic ice cream company.
“The project goal is to create a Jewish Community Campus, a place for the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay to expand their educational and community services,” the planning documents state. The community campus also would “create a hub for non-profit Jewish organizations to come together in a central East Bay location near BART and Oakland Public Schools, to maximize resources, to further collective impact, and to better serve the community,” the proposal states.
