Sea Isle City officials anonymously approved the measure on Tuesday morning.

A Jersey Shore town on Tuesday approved a nighttime curfew for anyone under 18.

“The requires the police to provide multiple warnings and opportunities for compliance before taking further action,” Mayor Leonard C. Desiderio said in a statement. “Importantly, the ordinance addresses concerns raised by our citizens. As I’ve said before — we have a responsibility to the public.” Children and teens who violate the curfew would be subject to two warnings before having a meeting with their parents or guardians to resolve the issue, but they would not be subject to any summonses or charges, the ordinance says. Parents who violate it by allowing or encouraging an underage person to remain in a public area would be faced with a series of escalating fines.
