Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to keep 75% of stock he held with ex-wife in divorce
Per CNBC, MacKenzie Bezos’ Amazon shares will be worth $35.6 billion.
In her first tweet Thursday morning on her newly created account, MacKenzie Bezos said she was “grateful to have finished the process of dissolving” their marriage, granting Jeff Bezos all of her interests in the Washington Post and Blue Origin, and 75% of the Amazon stock co-owned by the pair and voting control over the shares she’s retaining.Jeff Bezos also released a statement Thursday saying he was “grateful to all my friends and family for reaching out with encouragement and love.
According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, MacKenzie will keep about 4% of Amazon’s outstanding common stock, which would make her the third-biggest shareholder at the company and the fourth richest woman in the world according to Bloomberg. Jeff will remain the richest man in the world.The respectful announcement comes after intimate text messages between Jeff Bezos and his mistress, former news anchor Lauren Sanchez, were published by the National Enquirer.
