A 36-year-old Japanese woman, Noda Junko, has been charged with concealing the birth of a baby girl in Malaysia. She allegedly disposed of the infant's body in a shopping mall toilet. Noda pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
A Japan ese woman, Noda Junko, 36, appeared in the Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur today, January 18, pleading not guilty to charges of concealing the birth of a baby girl. The court set March 27 for the next case mention. Noda is accused of disposing of the infant's body in the women's toilet of a shopping mall in Cheras between 3 pm and 5.15 pm on January 12. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyuhada Husna Sulaiman requested a bail of RM10,000 with two sureties.
However, Noda's lawyer, Muhammad Afif Che Had, appealed for a lower bail amount, emphasizing that this was his client's first offense. He stated that Noda had been living and working in Malaysia for almost three years with no prior criminal record.Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim granted bail of RM6,000 with two sureties and added a condition that Noda surrender her international passport to the court until the case is finalized
