Janelle Monáe gave an inspirational speech as she accepted the SeeHer Award at the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards on Sunday
on Sunday, which broadcast live via CW from Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California. She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress inKate Hudson
Monáe’s inspirational speech focused on the characters she has portrayed and how they have provided insight, from aerospace engineer Mary Jackson in, who still had to fight for equal pay despite her groundbreaking work, to her portrayals of the Brand twin sisters Helen and Andi in. To her characters and those that have lived their experiences, Monáe said: “I see you.”
