Jane Fonda Says Grace and Frankie Season 6 Gets Real About “Women’s Bodies and Aging”

, we can only assume that Fonda is hinting at her character’s increasing struggle to rise from the porcelain throne. Multiple clips from the trailer show Grace struggling to stand from a seated position, and in an especially funny one, she attempts to use the toilet paper mount as a hand-hold which, expectedly, doesn’t end well.
Their bodies are changing, and so is their friendship. After Grace’s surprise wedding, Frankie is understandably distraught over the idea of losing her best friend. “You’re worried things are gonna change but things won’t change,” Grace reassures her. “Everything is going to change,” Frankie says. She later adds, “I’m terrified that my best friend has made a huge mistake.”
Fonda and Lily Tomlin, who plays Frankie, can’t believe that six seasons in, fans young and old are just as obsessed with the show as they were when it released in 2015. “I think it’s because it’s funny and, secondly, because it doesn’t cause anxiety, which I think we all need right now,” Fonda said. “I also think young people get a kick out of seeing people their grandmother’s age behaving in unexpected ways. And then women love it because it gives them hope.
