Veteran joins exclusive club as Wallabies make three changes for crunch World Cup clash

September 15th, 2023 6:05 pm

Prop James Slipper will become the third Australian to play in four Rugby World Cups after being named as the replacement for the injured Taniela Tupou in the Wallabies side to meet Fiji. Slipper’s inclusion at the expense of Tupou, who succumbed to a hamstring injury, is one of three changes to the Australian team that started in last weekend’s 35-15 win over Georgia in Paris.

Experienced halfback Nic White has also been called in for the match on Monday morning in Saint-Etienne, with vice-captain Tate McDermott having been ruled out in accordance with rugby’s HIA protocols after suffering a knock to his head against Georgia. The other change is another alteration in the forwards, with lock Nick Frost coming in for Richie Arnold, who has been dropped to the bench.Nic White will replace the concussed Tate McDermott at halfback. Zombie Wallabies descend on Parliament HouseZombie Wallabies descend on Parliament HouseA rugby team of zombie Wallabies has descended on Parliament House. The Dead Wallabies are protesting Rugby Australia’s sponsorship by oil and gas company Santos which extended its deal with the sporting code back in 2021. Santos sponsors the Wallabies who are currently playing in the Rugby World Cup in France. Through the use of a translator, the zombies called on the government to regulate fossil fuel advertisements and sponsorships, in the same way as alcohol and tobacco. “The Federal government needs to ban fossil fuel sponsorships so our sporting heroes are not made billboards for climate destruction,” said translator and Dead Wallabies Captain Belinda Noble. “Unfortunately, the Dead Wallabies could not find any brains in Canberra this morning because the government is still beholden to fossil fuel companies destroying our climate.”
