James Gunn debunks a claim that Groot will be back to his original size in GotGVol3 👀 'Nope. That’s not even physically possible. He’s much broader than OG Groot ever was. He’s his progeny & a totally different Groot.' 😯

James Gunn debunks a claim about Groot's size in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Two separate characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Groot has been a part of the Guardians team since the first installment. An extraterrestrial, tree-like figure, he began as a companion to Rocket, and his death at the end of 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy resulted in the birth of Baby Groot.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, franchise director Gunn continues to remind fans that the MCU's current Groot is not the same character they saw in the first movie. In response to a tweet claiming that Groot will return to his original size during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he writes that is "not even physically possible.

It is worth mentioning that Groot never retained any of his father's memories, further establishing the two versions as separate individuals, so the Groot that will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now Rocket's adopted son and is still continuing to grow. While it may seem like the character is on his way to resembling the original's form, there are some slight differences, mainly with his body and the shape of his head.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 likely concluding the stories of its main group, it will be interesting to see how much further Groot evolves. Audiences are already bracing for an emotional final installment and possible deaths, but many are wondering what will happen to Groot if he survives.
