Director Zack Snyder spoke on topic of 3D and his meeting with visionary director James Cameron during a Man of Steel Q&A.
questions from a crowd of fans, director Zack Snyder landed on the topic of making 3D movies and a discussion he had with visionary directorabout his experience with 3D and if he planned to film any future movies natively in 3D. Snyder noted that he “forgot” about 3D and that he doesn’t plan on filming in 3D for his future movies.
“As far as 3D goes, do I have any plans to shoot anything in native 3D? No, I do not,” Snyder confirmed. “I forgot about that format … it’s cool to see it. I have no issue with it existing. I love it, but … yeah. I don’t know if I’m doing any 3D — especially native 3D. Netflix is kind of hard for your 3D.”
Snyder also recounted a meeting with James Cameron — the iconic director who made films like Terminator, Titanic, and Avatar — in which Cameron asked him to film Man of Steel natively in 3D. “We had a meeting with Jim Cameron — I think it was right before we did Superman — and he was wanting us to, shoot the movie natively … in 3D,” Snyder revealed. “And I was like, ‘Uh … yes, Jim. That’s a great idea.’ But then the film … that was problematic … because you need two cameras all the time. So that would have been … yeah.”
