James ‘Arg’ Argent says sobriety is ‘really early days’ after turning down booze live on Good Morning Britain
The Towie star, who is currently eight months sober, thanked one of his 1.54million followers on Twitter for their support on ‘graciously declining the mojito’ that was offered to him by Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway at 6am in the morning.James spent three months in rehab in Thailand back in 2017 and briefly returned in August 2018 after going on a break with girlfriend Gemma Collins.
‘It’s not been an easy time but I’m happy to be back in a programme that gives me the ongoing support I need,’ he said in a statement at the time. ‘I’m thankful for the incredible support I have received from my family, close friends and colleagues.’The reality star awkwardly turned down a cocktail on Good Morning Britain, telling the presenters: ‘Do you know what? I’m going to say no because I’m eight months clean and sober!’
The drinks had been brought into a segment to show solidarity with Shadow Home Secretary Dianne Abbott, who was caught drinking on the London overground over the weekend.
