Ahmad Khamis, a former security officer at Chevron Singapore's Penjuru Terminal, was sentenced to jail after admitting to accepting bribes and allowing a cigarette smuggling syndicate to operate at the terminal for over three years.

Jail for pair linked to bogus scheme with more than 2,000 Singapore investors, over S$13.7mil in losses

Ahmad pleaded guilty to four corruption charges and one charge under the Customs Act. Another nine corruption charges and one charge under the Act were taken into consideration for sentencing. Instead of stopping the syndicate, Ahmad, who was in need of money, entered into an arrangement with it.And so for more than three years from September 2019 to December 2022, the syndicate was able to smuggle an unknown amount of contraband cigarettes into Singapore.

But to get to the rubbish chute from the changing area, the buggy had to pass through the terminal’s main guardhouse. The case came to light only after Theku was arrested by officers from the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau in February 2023.

Elon Musk and SpaceX Face Federal Investigations Over Security Protocol ViolationsElon Musk and SpaceX Face Federal Investigations Over Security Protocol ViolationsBillionaire Elon Musk and his space company SpaceX are facing three federal investigations regarding compliance with national security reporting regulations, according to The New York Times. The investigations were initiated by the US Air Force, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Deputy Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security. The report cites information from eight individuals with knowledge of SpaceX operations and internal company documents. The report alleges that Musk and SpaceX have repeatedly failed to adhere to federal reporting protocols intended to protect national secrets, including not disclosing details of his meetings with foreign leaders. This isn't the first time Musk's handling of SpaceX security has been questioned by the Pentagon. In 2018, Musk's public smoking of marijuana during a show with comedian Joe Rogan triggered a review of his security clearance. The latest report claims the US Air Force recently denied Musk's application for high-level security access due to potential security risks. Even US allies like Israel have expressed concerns that the SpaceX owner might be sharing sensitive data. Musk has yet to comment on the issue. SpaceX, renowned for its successful space missions, is now facing significant pressure to demonstrate its full compliance with security protocols to ensure that national secrets are not exposed to external threats.
