Welp… No Jadeveon, no Myles, no Taven Bryan today in Atlanta.
inactive list for Sunday’s game in Atlanta, meaning the Browns will be without three of their four starting defensive linemen.
“I don’t believe that there are backups in the NFL,” defensive coordinator Joe Woods said Thursday. “I just believe there are starters-in-waiting. Some of the guys are still developing and learning, but I trust those guys. I believe they’re good players who are going to fill in for those guys if they don’t play, and we’re going to keep doing what we do defensively.”
Clowney, who was listed as questionable with his sprained ankle, hadn’t practiced all week and was ruled out before the game for the second straight week. The Browns held out some hope that he might be able to play, and coach Kevin Stefanski said he’s “really, really close.” It means both he and Garrett could be back for next Sunday’s visit from the Chargers.
The absence of the three defensive linemen could loom large against this big and prolific Falcons offense, led by quarterback Marcus Mariota, Patterson, tight end Kyle Pitts and receiver Drake London.
