With his second goal of the night - and 766th of his career - the 34-year-old became just the third man to kick 400 goals on the hallowed MCG turf. He sits behind only former Tigers teammate Matthew Richardson and Matthew Lloyd on the all-time MCG goalkickers list.But if he was, the cheeky veteran didn’t want anyone to know it.“Did you know that was your 400th on the ‘G?” Thomas asked as a puffing and panting Riewoldt headed for the changerooms.Riewoldt responded through a smile that was either guilty or humbly surprised.Richardson had no doubt it was the former.
“He knew. That’s one of the biggest lies he’s ever told,” Richardson said with a laugh immediately after the quick interview finished.Daisy Pearce couldn’t help but agree.Hamish McLachlan said Riewoldt seems like the kind of player who would be aware of such a milestone.“Jack appears to be on of those that’s got a great understanding of his game, but also the history of the game.
