The residents of a caravan park in NSW are sleeping easy after a Supreme Court order brings an end to a long-running effort by the owner to evict them from their homes.

Residents at a caravan park in the Illawarra are sleeping soundly for the first time in five years after winning protection from an owner who was attempting to evict them.MP Paul Scully says the court's decision represents a "very clear victory for the rights of residents"

"A lot of people here have breathed a really big sigh of relief and we can rest easy now," resident Jan Hardy said. Jan Hardy says the solidarity among the Oasis Village community got them through a long and trying time. During the process Wollongong City Council refused to rezone the land for any other purpose than a land lease community."Everyone of those residents that lives at Oasis has a large chunk of assets involved in their home," he said.

On Tuesday Mr Martin and Wollongong MP Paul Scully, who had used parliament to call out the behaviour of the owner, travelled to Windang to inform the community of the result."The residents have been pushed around and bullied for a long time — this will allow the residents to live their lives with a bit more piece of mind."
