Exclusive: Jason Blum and James Wan, two creators behind the Insidious franchise, have given an exciting update about a possible spinoff, Thread
Jason Blum and James Wan have given an exciting update about the Insidious franchise spinoff Thread: An Insidious Tale in a recent interview, providing a better idea of what fans can expect from the film. The horror series began in 2011, releasing three more movies since, with both Blum and Wan serving as producers on every entry and Wan filling the role of director on the first two.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Wan and Blum discussed The Red Door and their plans for the future. When asked about the Insidious spinoff Thread, the duo responded with a promising update on what the movie intends to explore - including a comparison to The Conjuring. Check out the full quote below:
Jason Blum: It's definitely being talked about, but I don't know how much we are discussing that. James actually originated that, so he'll know more about it than I will. James Wan: Yeah, Thread basically kind of takes off from the world of The Further in the same way that when I look at my Conjuring films, I go, "Hey, the Warrens have a haunted museum, there's so many different haunted artifacts that we can kind of spin off stories from," and Thread really is something in that same spirit.
Spinoffs are always risky, as they often do away with fan-favorite characters or stray to far from what engaged viewers in the first place thematically. Wan and Blum have a great track record when it comes to horror films, making them well-equipped to handle these sorts of narrative hurdles. This new update on the Insidious spinoff is quite promising, although it seems as though fans will have to wait a while before they can see it on the big screen.
