The parents of a 23-year-old woman who died from meningococcal B have praised today's decision to make the vaccine free and available in routine child and teen immunisation in Queensland.

"I was so happy to hear the news because it means Queenslanders could be spared the same devastation that we've experienced due to meningococcal B," Jodie Fidler said.Bella Fidler began feeling sick shortly after returning home from Bali in November where she had been celebrating finishing her law degree.

Ms Fidler said at the time of Bella's death she was unaware her daughter was not vaccinated again the deadly disease.
