Natasha Rangel, a domestic violence survivor, supports the national and local campaign...

In 2007, the Domestic Violence Task Force called for purple porch lights to support victims of domestic violence. Locally, the Collaborative Commission on Domestic Violence also raised awareness about the campaign. The city of San Antonio and Bexar County initiative sponsors Purple Porch SA, which invites residents to switch a porch light for a purple one or display a purple wreath on the porch.

Rangel, president and CEO of the foundation, obtained a national certification as a domestic violence advocate for victims of crime from the National Advocate Credential Program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She’s attended the commission’s Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium for the past three years.

Angelica Cervantes, 38, worked with Rangel when she provided services to graduates of Providence programs. Rangel offers a 24-hour hotline for people asking for help and resources. Her clients are 18 years and older.
