The Islamic State West Africa Province ( ISWAP ) has claimed responsibility for an attack on Garin Kukawa in Borno State , Nigeria . In a video, ISWAP showcased mobilization and attack scenes, including hundreds of motorbikes and a single SVBIED . The video, narrated in Arabic, aimed to portray the attack as a victory under their so-called 'Borno Province' and highlighted two SVBIED drivers as martyrs.
However, the Nigerian military refuted these claims, emphasizing that the attack was repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK). A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, noted that the video is part of ISWAP's propaganda strategy and that the group often disperses its fighters into smaller groups after failed offensives
