With the ongoing boycott movements, anything Israel-related products can cause some sensitivity. In Perlis, an Israeli-owned container truck was told to turn
back and return to Thailand.
The truck was carrying frozen poultry that had just arrived from Thailand in Padang Besar, Perlis. The Royal Malaysian Customs Department in the state, however, did not permit the driver to enter Malaysia and instructed him to turn back. Director of JKDM, Ismail Hashim, said the incident occurred at around 12.03pm after the vehicle entered the scanner tunnel of the Highway Traffic Unit, Immigration Complex, Kastam, Quarantine and Security Padang Besar, reported Buletin TV3.
“The purpose of the lorry entering the scanner tunnel is as a procedure to pledge Form K1 which aims to import merchandise into the country.” During the process of scanning the image, the operator of the scanning machine detected that the container used was of Israeli origin based on the ZIM logo printed on the body of the outer wall of the container.Ismail added that an investigation with other government agencies found that the container was prohibited from entering this country because it was believed to be owned by an Israeli-based company.
