Adobe, which recently introduced a range of generative artificial intelligence tools, now finds itself in the spotlight of an AI imagery controversy. A world leader in digital media, Adobe is beingfor selling AI-generated and very realistic images of the Israel-Palestine war, a move that could further the flow of misinformation around a sensitive humanitarian situation.
Adobe Stock users searching for images will encounter a mix of real and AI-generated content. Some AI-generated images may closely resemble authentic, unstaged photography, making it challenging for consumers to distinguish between the two. This blurring of lines between real and AI-generated imagery raises ethical concerns about misinformation and the use of these images in sensitive contexts like the Israel-Palestine war. This also raises the important question of how AI models like Midjourney, DALL-E, and Adobe may not have an effective way of policing submissions.
