President Biden said in an Oval Office address that supporting the security of both Ukraine and Israel was critical to buttressing the U.S.-led global order. He called on Congress to pass an aid package to fund wars in Ukraine and Israel.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday welcomed a 20-truck convoy of aid for Gaza, and urged “all parties” to keep the Rafah crossing from Egypt open to allow for continued humanitarian assistance.
But he also warned Hamas against seizing or diverting any of the contents of the convoy. “If Hamas steals or diverts this assistance it will have demonstrated once again that it has no regard for the welfare of the Palestinian people and as a practical matter it will hinder the international community from being able to provide this aid,” Blinken said.
