The President wants Congress to approve $US100 billion in resources for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and the US southern border.
US President Joe Biden has made the case to the American people for sending billions to help Israel and Ukraine fight aggressors. But he faces an array of steep challenges as he tries to secure the money. The funding request to Congress, which will be unveiled on Friday , includes $US60 billion for Ukraine, much of which is for replenishing US weapons stockpiles that have already been provided.
In addition, conservative Republicans oppose sending more weapons to Ukraine as its battle against the Russian invasion approaches the two-year mark. Biden’s previous request for funding, which included $24 billion to help with the next few months of fighting, was stripped out of budget legislation last month despite a personal plea from Zelenskyy.
