ISKANDAR PUTERI: The police have arrested 20 people and issued over 900 summonses in three traffic operations here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the operations, codenamed Ops Samseng Jalanan, Ops Mabuk and Ops Perdagangan, were conducted between May 30 and June 12. “We have arrested 11 men and one woman, including three foreigners for driving dangerously while six local men were arrested for driving while intoxicated.
“Also arrested were two local men who were driving overloaded lorries,” he said in a statement on Thursday . ACP Kumarasan said they were being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act for driving dangerously and Section 45 of the same Act for driving while under the influence of alcohol and Section 57 of the Land Public Transport Act for overloading lorries.“A total of 937 summonses were also issued for various traffic offences during the operations,” he said, adding that the police take such cases seriously and will continue to monitor the situation.
