A species of fish not seen since the Macarena was top of the pop charts is believed to have been spotted in deep waters off Tasmania — and scientists say it could be a symptom of the warming waters effect on species distribution.
The last time one was sighted was in 1996 — when the Macarena was top of the charts and Gen Z had yet to be born.
The scientists are repeating a survey from 25 years ago to try and understand if the ecosystem has changed and why it might be happening.
