Standup comic Pete Davidson played some pickup basketball in Las Vegas this week, and we spotted a terrifying piece of Alabama pop culture on his T-shirt: a shirt featuring Art the Clown, the “Terrifier” horror character played by David Howard Thornton.
Created by writer/director Damien Leone, Art the Clown debuted in a short film before transitioning to feature films in 2013′s “All Hallows’ Eve” in which he was played by actor Mike Gianelli. Thornton took over in the original “Terrifier” film, which will soon become a trilogy. Art has quickly become a cult horror figure and one of the most identifiable slasher villains in the tradition of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees.
And Davidson didn’t look half-bad on the court. Did he grow up playing hoops, or did his pal Adam Sandler -- who frequently plays pickup basketball -- lure him into the sport?
