Opinion from ejmontini: Racism isn't a one-time thing. Besides the discrimination case involving Hobbs, could Lake point to any other racist aspects of Hobbs’ life, past or present?
The fact is two civil juries found that Talonya Adams, a Black woman, was discriminated against when she worked for Arizona Senate Democrats in 2015 and was fired in retaliation after raising concerns about pay disparity. Hobbs was the minority leader in the Senate at the time and participated in Adams’s firing.
“I recognize that my experience and understanding of racism has sometimes been too narrow. I’ve missed personal and leadership opportunities to fight harder for racial equity. I am committed to growing, learning and holding myself accountable.”In a face-to-face meeting Lake would jump at the chance to call Hobbs a racist.She could admit, first, that she screwed up. Then she could then ask if such a terrible error in judgement makes her a racist.
Does supporting a white nationalist sympathizer who posts antisemitic tropes make Lake such a person?
