“Texas is known around the world for its stunning natural landscape as well as bustling cities that offer tourists and locals alike picturesque views all year round,” a spokesperson for the site said. In order to determine the most Instagrammable cities in the state, the research study analyzed Instagram activity in cities across Texas by tracking hashtag data. Hashtags are usually a phrase or word preceded by the # symbol, designed to make content more discoverable. They are a clickable feature on the social media app.
Dallas yielded more than 27 million posts with hashtags related to the area. As the fourth largest metropolitan complex in the U.S., D-FW is home to Dealey Plaza, a bustling Arts District and aHouston, which took the top spot as the most Instagrammable area in Texas, had more than 36 million hashtags — a whopping 9 million more than Dallas.
In eighth place is Waco, which is home to Magnolia Market, the Dr Pepper Museum and Baylor University.
