Padres finally beat Giants in 10th

The Padres came back early, lost two leads and finally put away the Giants 8-7 in 10 innings Friday night at Oracle Park in a wild game that included objects being thrown on the field near left fielder Jurickson Profar in two different innings.

The Padres are 18-9 in games decided three or fewer runs. Every game on this road trip has been something of a rollercoaster ride. The Padres are 5-2 on this trek that began in Atlanta and continued in Philadelphia before the Padres arrived here late Thursday. Friday’s victory secured a winning record on the trip, Padres’ third winning trip in the three they have taken this season.

With closer Taylor Rogers unavailable after working 1 1/3 innings Thursday, Garcia got two strikeouts before an infield single by Mike Yastrzemski and full-count walks by Darin Ruf and Joc Pederson loaded the bases. Wilmer Flores tied the game 6-6 with a single. “It’s very frustrating,” said Profar, who was 3-for-5. “You can talk whatever you want. You pay to watch a game, you can talk. These guys are the worst in the league. You can talk. But when you try to throw stuff, that’s different.”

“I know their fans are better than that. We go out there to give them a show and to perform at the highest level and … the Giants organization does the same thing as well. They put a good team out there to go out there and perform every single night. I think we need a little bit more protection as players. Just be better. That’s all we ask for.”The Giants led 1-0 after two innings.
