Ireland recently competed at the Minifootball World Cup in Ras Al Khaimah

Irish eyes looked on as the latest instalment of the Minifootball World Cup came to a conclusion in the Middle East.

But this is a much different game and one which is extremely popular in eastern European countries heading towards Asia. Kazakhstan raced into a two-goal lead before Romania came back to level the game with two goals in the dying seconds of the match, which consisted of 25 minutes per half. Emmet looked on knowing there is a world of difference between the funding and financial backing some of these countries have compared to that of Ireland, whose team was made up of a mix of players based back home, along with a number based in Dubai.

"We met with Sport Ireland and they were great. It's not that they just didn't give us money, their hands were tied to give us money and that needs to change. Emmet was keen to thank the local Irish community in the United Arab Emirates for massively helping them at the tournament. He said: "It was really nice to get that win. I think the other scores didn't really reflect the games. The Mexico match we made some errors that we wouldn't usually make and I think the Georgia game definitely just got out of hand, but we're getting there.
