The president of the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, who has repeatedly argued that voter fraud is an issue, cited that data on Twitter on Sunday. That spread across the social-media platform, according to an analysis by the misinformation monitoring firm VineSight., which it said is updated monthly and is publicly available on its website, showed that such claims are “patently false.
Mr. Fitton defended Judicial Watch’s methods in an interview. “We stand by our material, stand by our analysis,” he said. A Twitter spokesperson said the tweets didn’t violate its election integrity policy, which prohibits the use of Twitter to manipulate or interfere in elections, including posting or sharing content that may suppress voter turnout or mislead about when, where or how to vote.
