Apple is set to host its 35th annual Worldwide Developers Conference next month and with it, comes expectations of AI integration in the upcoming iOS 18 update. While the company itself has not revealed anything yet, there are some interesting reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman regarding how the tech giant will implement AI into its ecosystem.
In his latest 'Power On' newsletter, Gurman claims that a big part of the next update will see Siri getting a voice upgrade with a more 'conversational feel', something we recently saw with OpenAI's GPT-4o. The voice assistant will also get new features to help users with daily tasks with an approach called 'proactive intelligence'.
The report states that the new AI features will mainly be processed on-device, but there will be some features that require a connection to the cloud. As for a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, the Cupertino firm will likely not be introducing one soon as Apple's executives have allegedly admitted to 'playing catch-up' internally.
