Apple's next iPhone software is just a matter of days away—but how many days, exactly?
Historical precedent helps us here, too. While in 2019 Apple released iOS 13 on Thursday September 19, just one day before the iPhone 11 went on sale, this was an unusual arrangement. In 2018 and 2017, the new version of iOS went on general release at the beginning of the following week. This was the Monday in 2018 and the Tuesday in 2017 following the keynote, three or four days before the iPhone on sale date.
Which would mean that this year, iOS 15 will be available to download on either Monday September 20 or Tuesday 21. Apple does have a fondness for releasing iOS updates on a Tuesday, so that’s the date that is favorite, I believe.But for now, I think Tuesday September 21, or just possibly Monday September 20 will be when we’ll finally get our hands on iOS 15.
