Kopi Kenangan, Indonesia's largest coffee retailer, opened its first outlet in Singapore almost a year after expanding to Malaysia. The effect is expected to spill over to the tourism sector.

It didn't take long, the store was soon filled with customers. The Latte memories, which is the signature coffee with Indonesian palm sugar milk, became the main menu because it is not common in Singapore. The drink is known as"Ex-Lover Coffee" at Kopi Kenangan outlets in the homeland.The founder and Co-chief Executive Officer of Kopi Kenangan, Eward Tirtanata, said that all menus in Singapore and Malaysia use 100 percent coffee beans from Indonesia.
Kenangan Coffee also only uses Indonesian palm sugar purchased from a collector in Sukabumi, West Java.."We want to consume Indonesian coffee in the Indonesian way, becoming a habit in Southeast Asia and globally," he added. "Indeed, we plan to add one more country this year. We aim to add at least one or two countries per year," said Edward, while stating that the cost of opening one outlet in Singapore and Malaysia ranges from 40,000-100,000 US dollars or equivalent to 618 million to 1.5 billion Indonesian rupiahs."Until the end of 2024, Kenangan Coffee is targeting to open four outlets. The second outlet has even been scheduled to operate on Wednesday at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.
