Kota Kinabalu: The State government has been urged to install early warning system on natural disaster including flooding to alert people of Sabah especially in Penampang to be more vigilant and for safety purposes.
Making the call, Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang said it is timely for the government to allocate additional funds for such system following climate change that has been happening.She said it is vital for Sabah to have the early warning system on any natural disaster through dissemination of social media and other platforms so that the people can be informed early and do necessary steps.
“During the Penampang flood disaster, many residents were unprepared of the sudden rise of the river and extraordinary rainfall and did not expect these would happen on a faster rate.
