Inside Europe’s boozy Ryder Cup celebrations as Rory takes cheeky swipe at Team USA rival
Team Europe most certainly celebrated their epic Ryder Cup triumph in style, with countless champagne showers and a rowdy bus ride to boot. The win also continued USA’s wait for a victory on European soil, something they have not done since 1993.
The players lapped up the moment in front of their passionate European fans at the Marco Simone course and Rory McIlroy cheekily waved his hat and said “I don’t have to be paid to wear it,” a cheeky swipe at the American team’s rumoured dispute about whether they should be paid for playing in the Ryder Cup.
The team gleefully poured champagne into the Ryder Cup and drank out of it, although who knows how much actually made it into their mouths as opposed to the fronts of their sweat-stained shirts.
