The House of Representatives Committee on the Nigerian Army on Tuesday expressed commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in the fight against security challenges in the country. Abdullahi Mamudu, the committee's chairman, spoke during the inauguration of the committee in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mamudu said that the committee had devised a comprehensive four-year work plan which would be followed within a specific timeframe to attain its mandate. “Let us approach this responsibility with utmost seriousness, understanding that we must empower the Nigerian Army to address the multiple security challenges we face in the country,” he stated.

He said the committee’s oversight functions encompassed various aspects, including the Nigerian Army, ammunition depots, forts, arsenals, reservations, and establishments. He said it also included development projects of the Nigerian Army and Army barracks, landed property, and associated assets, in addition to annual budgets and recruitment.
