A Queensland fishing influencer has filmed himself jumping into a river in Far North crocodile territory, sparking outrage among wildlife advocates. 7NEWS
In the video, which Colombini uploaded to social media platform TikTok, the Cassowary Coast fisho jumps into the river before swimming to a boat nearby.“Better do a cliff jump off Tully River ... the boat’s going to pick us up when we jump off.Daniel Colombini filmed himself plunging more than 10m off an embankment into the Tully River, sparking outrage among wildlife advocates.
“Look it’s really frustrating for us, our team works really hard to keep people in Croc Country safe and then you see stuff like this happen and it’s really disappointing,” Ren Bone from BeCrocWise Program said. Wildlife advocates have taken issue with the dangerous dive, and Daniel Colombini’s attitude towards entering a known spot for crocs.Two weeks ago, tourist Alistair McPhee filmed himself wading into croc-infested water at the Bloomfield River.The Department of Environment and Science said it has had enough of the ‘posts and boasts’.
“Most people in Croc Country know how to be croc wise and when everyone is doing the right thing it puts those few people who do the wrong thing at greater risk,” a spokesperson said.The advice in croc areas is to stay out of the water and keep at least five metres from the edge to be safe.If you’d like to view this content, please adjust your
