The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will resume nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) in February 2025, starting at the Local Government Area (LGA) level.

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) has announced that nationwide continuous voter registration ( CVR ) will resume in February 2025. The exercise will begin at the Local Government Area (LGA) level and then expand to registration areas. In a memo dated November 20, 2024, INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony instructed Resident Electoral Commissioners to make preparations for the CVR resumption.

The memo requested information regarding the availability of INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (IVEDs), printers, CVR forms, and materials. It also outlined the plan to identify and select staff who will serve as voter registration officials. Furthermore, the memo tasked state offices with preparing information on uncollected Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) to facilitate the printing of a register of uncollected PVCs for display during the exercise. Recall that INEC suspended the CVR exercise in July 2022 ahead of the 2023 general election. However, voter registration activities were conducted in states holding off-cycle elections
