Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto makes his first visit to Malaysia since assuming office, meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional challenges.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Malaysia for a one-day working visit. Wisma Putra, through a statement, said this visit was his first to Malaysia since his appointment as Indonesian President in October 2024. He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today. The special aircraft carrying Prabowo and his delegation landed at Kompleks Bunga Raya, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 10.15 am.

Wisma Putra said the visit reflects the close and special relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, supported by strong cooperation in various fields, including economy, socio-culture, defense, and security. The meeting is also expected to discuss bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. As the ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia and Indonesia are expected to exchange views on efforts to strengthen ASEAN Community Building, regional cooperation, and a common approach to addressing global challenges. In the economic aspect, trade relations between the two countries remain significant. In 2023, Indonesia was Malaysia's seventh largest trading partner globally and the third largest among ASEAN countries with a total trade value of RM111.21 billion (USD24.39 billion). From January to October 2024, the total two-way trade volume has increased to RM95.50 billion (USD20.75 billion), compared to RM94.37 billion (USD20.69 billion) in the same period last year. - UTUSA
