A 19-year-old Indonesian woman was arrested by Japan ese police in Kagoshima Prefecture on suspicion of killing her newborn baby. The woman, who works as a nurse, was apprehended on Wednesday. She had arrived in Japan in August as a trainee. According to police, she gave birth in a women's restroom at a nursing home where she worked and was found by a colleague in a state of distress. Both she and the baby were taken to the hospital.

Although the baby was alive at the time, it died two days later on Sunday. An autopsy revealed the baby's death was caused by multiple organ failure due to head trauma. The woman was arrested after recovering and police are continuing their investigation. She denies the charge of murdering her baby. 'I am sure I gave birth to the baby, but I don't remember what happened after that,' she told NHK
