An Indonesian citizen was charged in the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court with murdering a male technician in an apartment in the city last month. The suspect, Fajar Ali, 29, pleaded not guilty. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. The victim, Mohammad Sallehen Mohd. Safri, 33, was found dead in a blood-stained condition at Prima Tebrau Residensi on May 12. The prosecution is proceeding under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, plus caning if the death penalty is not imposed. The court set September 8 for a mention date for chemical and post-mortem reports.

UTUSAN/RAJA JAAFAR ALIJOHOR BAHRU: Seorang lelaki warganegara Indonesia dihadapkan ke Mahkamah Majistret, di sini hari ini atas pertuduhan membunuh seorang juruteknik lelaki di sebuah pangsapuri di daerah ini, bulan lalu. Tertuduh, Fajar Ali, 29, hanya mengangguk faham selepas pertuduhan dibacakan jurubahasa mahkamah di hadapan Majistret, Atifah Hazimah Wahab. Bagaimanapun, tiada pengakuan direkodkan daripada tertuduh kerana kes berkenaan berada di bawah bidang kuasa Mahkamah Tinggi. Mengikut pertuduhan, tertuduh didakwa dengan niat telah melakukan pembunuhan ke atas mangsa, Mohammad Sallehen Mohd.
Safri, 33 di Prima Tebrau Residensi, Jalan Dato’ Sulaiman, di sini antara pukul 7 hingga 8.45 pagi, pada 12 Mei lalu. Pendakwaan dilakukan mengikut Seksyen 302 Kanun Keseksaan yang memperuntukkan hukuman gantung sampai mati atau penjara tidak kurang 30 tahun tetapi tidak lebih 40 tahun dan sekiranya tidak dikenakan hukuman gantung sampai mati, hendaklah dikenakan sebatan tidak kurang 12 sebatan, jika disabit kesalahan. Pendakwaan dikendalikan Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Nik Noratini Nik Azman manakala tertuduh yang tidak bekerja tidak diwakili peguam.
Mahkamah menetapkan 8 September depan sebagai tarikh sebutan semula bagi serahan laporan kimia dan bedah siasat. Pada 13 Mei lalu, Ketua Polis Daerah Johor Bahru Selatan, Assisten Komisioner Raub Selamat melaporkan seorang lelaki tempatan berusia 33 tahun ditemui maut dalam keadaan terbaring berlumuran darah pada pukul 10.50 malam di lokasi berkenaan.
