Reuters, citing Garuda's CFO, said the company may change its 737 Max order to another type of Boeing jet. The Boeing planes have been grounded by authorities in multiple countries — including in the U.S., Europe, China and Indonesia after two fatal crashes involving the 737 Max 8.
A Boeing 737 Max 8 operated by Indonesia's Lion Air crashed into the Java Sea last October, killing all 189 people on board. Less than five months later, the same plane model operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed under what some investigators said were similar circumstances to the incident in Indonesia. None of the 157 on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight survived.
